When Sisters Speak…

  • January 7, 2010 5:04 pm

When Sisters Speak is one of the premiere spoken word events in Toronto, hands down.   When I attended my first Spoken Word event I was 18 and working hard to impress a young lady.  We attended black love in the downstairs of some building in Scarborough.  I think it was a gym or some sorts.  Anyways, I was blown away, overly convinced that the voice was more powerful than those metal guns America makes.  The point of my story is to stress how much and how beautifully Spoken Word events have grown.    Big up to Lillian Allen and Clifton Joseph who really carried the touch long before I was old enough to attend one of these events.  Definitely come out a support homegrown talent and experience one of our most powerful weapons…
